Development of prototypes of audio equipment
We, at Hawk, design circuits and models of audio equipment. In general this is all about loudspeakers and amplifiers.
The final phase of the development process involves the creation of a manual with instructions so the d-i-y audio hobbyist will succeed in mounting a complete working piece of audio equipment. For this phase in our design process we're looking for audio amateurs having experience and, preferably, want to have such a set for themselves. The award for his labour will be that the finished design can be kept for a price at around half the final price.
The set to be described will be delivered by us with schematics, drawings and all necessary materials with the exception of paint, solder and glue.
There are some restrictions. We assume the builder to be able to:
1. be able to describe in clear English text what the future hobbyist has to do in order to get a working and reliable piece of equipment.
2. deliver the text in MS-Word.
3. Make pictures and drawings in order to give a clear view of the building process.
Such a partner in our project is not allowed to give information to any third party before the publication date of the project.
The design and all circuits, drawings and descriptions will be our property and protected by copyright.
The first project is a loudspeakerset and matching 2 ½ way amplifier. The stereo loudspeakers are constructed as tube loudspeakers with a full range loudspeaker unit and complemented with a passive subwoofer. The amplifier has three internal parts: the power supply, the preamplifier with filter amp and a three-way power amp. The power is about 2 x 15 Watt + 1 x 25 Watt.
The loudspeaker kits are delivered with all necessary material including a new type of top and bottom flanges. The amplifier is delivered with a standard cabinet. Some holes are to be drilled in the bottom of that cabinet.
Expected sales price 425 Euro
This is a loudspeaker project. It's a stereo set of 3-way loudspeakers. These also will have a new type of top and bottom flanges. Frequency response around 35 Hz - 40 kHz and music power is 70 Watt.
Expected sales price 800 Euro
This is a MM/MC pre-amp. It's an amp with integrated circuits and an extensive power supply.
Sales price 595 Euro
This one will start within a few months. Again it involves a 2 ½ weg system, but in this case with different loudspeaker units and an improved class-D type of power amp. Pwer is 3 x 50 Watt, frequency response of the amplifier is 10 Hz - 70 kHz.
Expected sales price 750 Euro
In the course of 2009 we will develop some surround sets with identical power as the amps above. The systems will consist out of a separate pre-amp and power amp. The pre-amp will have an 8 channel input and 4 stereo inputs. The power amp also will be an 8 channel type.
