P-12 Control Amplifier

A lot of music lovers are very pleased with our former P-11 control amplifier. It's simple, straightforward, easy to build and a pleasure to listen to. In our latest version we introduced a more sophisticated power supply and added there an integrated regulator which is specially designed for this purpose.

The result was that we got better definition, especially of the room acoustics, and instruments are more 'natural' then with our former models.

Although we were still quite happy with that design there were some improvements possible. In our JD-10 design we inserted a socalled shunt regulator. This type of regulator takes care of a more quiet functioning of the circuit. As a result more background information can be heard and, in general, it acts 'more musical'.

We also added a gold plated "stepped" attenuator for the volume control and an expensive (gold plated) input switch. Both add a better performance and greater reliability over a lot of years.

The mains transformer has separate windings for both channels and each channel has its own voltage stabilisation.

The complete circuit, including the power supply, is to be placed on only one printed circuit board.

The PCB is rather compact. Note that the bridge rectifier for the filaments is NOT on the board. This rectifier has to be placed on the cabinet bottom to achieve adequate cooling of that device.
